it's all fun and games until you realize that you didn't load the film correctly and all that time you spent shooting with your film camera was wasted.
But that's the thing- it wasn't wasted. All that time i spent looking at the moon up close through that telephoto lens was well worth it.
I've seen it's become a common thing to read on Instagram bios and such stuff like "Capture every moment" and other things like that. I'm sure you've seen it too.
believe me, I think Instagram is great, and photography is something I want to be doing til the day i die, and I love having something to remember the "moments."
But when you put it in that perspective, it makes it seem as if the moment you're experiencing isn't enough. Like if you don't turn it into a bunch of pixels, then it wasn't worth the time. People constantly want to immortalize themselves.
I just have to remind myself to see the world with my eyes first, not my camera lens. To not live behind my iPhone.
Because one day, the moon won't be as bright, and although I may have 500 pictures of it, nothing will compare to actually seeing it there- shining against the violet backdrop of the night.
