Study Abroad: the one where I obtain my visa

well, I don't technically have my visa yet, but all I have to do now is wait.

Another step in my journey to Europe has been completed: my visa has been approved! It was somewhat of an arduous task because we had to make a trip all the way to the capitol, but in hindsight it wasn't all that bad and it was actually pretty fun, which typically happens when you bring friends with you.

These fine people waited for me outside of L'Ambassade de France. It was a pretty easy process: take a ticket, go to window 2, go to window 1,  sit down, go to window 3 and pay, before you know it you're going back to the entrance to collect your drivers license. My only hiccup came when I went to the first window and the man asked me if I was applying for a student visa and for some reason I said, "Si!."

Yeah...

but it didn't faze him so I guess it was alright. I mean, you do say "si" to mean "yes" in French sometimes, just not in that context, much to my disdain.

Any way, after returning a lost wallet to its owner and finally deciding on a parking method, we drove out of the city and rode the metro back in. We only had time to check out a couple of sights before the museums closed and we were too exhausted from our 5 AM departure to stick around for the memorials.

I really do love Washington DC... all of the classic architecture and hustle and bustle (which is terrible to drive in, but great to be a part of), as well as all of the history. There are fountains and parks and statues and sculptures everywhere. It is so wonderful.
