Study abroad: home

Coming home, I knew things were be different, or that I would be different. Something in this equation between me and home would have changed by some degree. There are so many ways of living that I never knew existed before going abroad. Small changes that appear to be minimal but, in fact, change everything on a much broader scale.

And I find that with each new way that I experience, I grow and I change. I seem to have found bits and pieces of myself everywhere: in the tiles of cathedrals and in the palms of statues. The more I see of this world, the more I find reflections of myself.

But being home is different. I'm not exploring new ways of life, and I've found that in my absence life has continued without me, but in many ways has stayed the same.

My last few days in Pau I tried to absorb as much as I could- the castle, the people, the Christmas Market. It's all so different from the way we celebrate in the US. It's strange how someplace so different from what you're used to can become a second home.

I'm already looking forward to going back.

A bientôt, la France.
